Assistant's zone

Where the assistant sits: about 2 to 4 o'clock (right-handed operator).

For a right-handed operator, the assistant works from about 2 to 4 o'clock, seated about 4 to 6 inches higher than the operator. The assistant does not move much, but may raise the stool when the team works on the lower arch to see into the mouth better. Sit as close to the patient as you can with your legs parallel to the chair.

What it is used for

  • Adjust your stool so you can see into the mouth without twisting or leaning far forward.

Safety and care

  • Good posture protects your back and neck over a long day.
