Weingart utility pliers
Also called: Weingart, utility pliers
Pliers with thin, tapered, serrated tips for placing and removing archwires.
Weingart pliers have long, thin, tapered beaks with serrations (grooves) and a slight curve. They grip the archwire to place it in brackets or remove it.
How to spot it
- Narrow, tapered, slightly curved beaks with grooved inner surfaces.
What it is used for
- Placing and removing archwires; general holding.
Safety and care
- Semicritical item (it touches the inside of the mouth): clean it, package it and heat-sterilize it after every patient.
