Band pusher
Also called: band seater, band driver
A long-handled tool with a small serrated tip that pushes an orthodontic band into place.
An orthodontic band is a metal ring cemented around a tooth (often a molar). The band pusher has a small, angled, serrated (grooved) tip that presses the band down onto the tooth.
How to spot it
- A single long handle with a small angled rectangular tip that has a grooved face.
What it is used for
- Seating molar bands.
Safety and care
- Semicritical item (it touches the inside of the mouth): clean it, package it and heat-sterilize it after every patient.
