Handpiece cleaner and lubricant
Also called: handpiece oil, lube spray
Sprays that clean and oil handpieces before they are sterilized.
Handpieces have turbines and gears that need cleaning and oiling after every patient, before sterilization. Each handpiece maker specifies which cleaner and oil to use and how. CDC notes that cleaning and lubrication are the most important factors in how long handpieces last.
How to spot it
- Aerosol cans with nozzle adapters, labeled for dental handpieces.
What it is used for
- Spray into the back of the handpiece, run it to blow out excess, wipe it off, then package and sterilize.
Safety and care
- Aerosol cans are flammable; store away from heat.
- Run it over a towel or in a containment unit; oil mist can spray.
