Clean, then disinfect
Also called: two-step method, spray-wipe-spray, wipe-discard-wipe
Always remove dirt first; then apply disinfectant for the full contact time.
Debris such as blood and saliva shields germs from the disinfectant. So the first application (or wipe) cleans, and a second, fresh application disinfects. Some products are labeled as cleaner-disinfectors that can do both, but still in two separate steps.
What it is used for
- Step 1: wipe off visible soil with the product. Step 2: apply fresh product and leave it wet for the contact time.
- Wear utility gloves for both steps.
Safety and care
- If a surface cannot be cleaned well, protect it with a barrier instead.
