Needle recapping device
Also called: needle cap holder, recapping stand, needle sheath prop
A holder that keeps the needle cap upright so it can be recapped with one hand.
OSHA's bloodborne pathogens rule allows recapping of a used needle only with a one-handed technique or a mechanical device. A recapping device holds the cap steady so the operator slides the needle in without the other hand nearby.
How to spot it
- A small stand, card or clip that grips the needle cap upright on the tray.
What it is used for
- Kept on the tray during injections; the operator recaps between injections.
Safety and care
- Never hold the cap in your fingers while recapping.
