Mixing pad and glass slab

Also called: paper pad, parchment pad, glass slab

A paper pad or glass slab used as a clean surface for mixing materials.

Mixing pads are stacks of coated paper sheets; you mix on the top sheet and tear it off. A glass slab is a thick smooth piece of glass that stays cool and does not soak up liquid, which slows setting for some cements.

How to spot it

  • Pad: a small block of coated white sheets.
  • Slab: thick clear glass, often with rounded edges.

What it is used for

  • Mixing cements, liners and bases.

Safety and care

  • Pad sheets are single-use; clean and disinfect or sterilize the glass slab per its instructions.
