Gracey 5/6
Also called: Gracey 5/6
A Gracey for front teeth and premolars.
The Gracey 5/6 works on anterior (front) teeth and premolars, so one pair can cover the front of the mouth and the first back teeth.
How to spot it
- A fairly simple shank like the 1/2 and 3/4, so read the number stamped on the handle to tell them apart.
What it is used for
- Scaling anterior teeth and premolars.
Safety and care
- Critical item (it goes into soft tissue or touches bone): clean it, package it and heat-sterilize it after every patient.
- Sharp working end: carry it point-down in a closed cassette, and never reach blindly into a pile of instruments.
