Bite registration
Also called: bite reg, occlusal record, check bite
A quick-setting material record of how the upper and lower teeth fit together.
A bite registration is a small piece of set material (often VPS or wax) that the patient bit into. The lab uses it to mount the models in the right relationship.
How to spot it
- A thin, firm wafer with tooth marks on both sides.
What it is used for
- Sent with impressions for crowns, bridges and appliances.
Safety and care
- Rinse and disinfect before sending to the lab.
